So. Korea to renegotiate beef in FTA PDF Print E-mail

Federal governments in many countries are keen to negotiate these free trade deals based on the old model, even as their citizens protest.  It's a strange dichotomy - the government vs. the citizens.  Replayed across the world.  Like South Korea this month.  Protests every day.

Where does the impetus for these bad deals come from?  Elected official altruism?

Even if Washington accepts the compromise suggested by Korean officials, it remained unclear whether that would placate the public. Civic groups have demanded a complete renegotiation of the deal, which they fear does not adequately protect Korean consumers.

South Korea's new government is in disarray.  They negotiated a deal with the U.S.  A "free trade agreement."  What a great label that.  Free trade agreement.  It shields the deal from scrutiny.  How can you be against "free trade."

So South Korea's president wants out of the beef deal.  A rock and a hard place come to mind.

At a news conference on Thursday, Mr. Kim was careful not to describe the meetings with Susan C. Schwab, the American trade representative, as a renegotiation. He called them “additional talks.”

But is the beef part enough for the Korean citizens?

Our Nation almost disintegrating right before our very eyes with some Quebec Integration of US/Canada/Mexico meetings that in comparison with just beef here this so call "Parliament" modeled like the EU will create so many laws, restrictions and Regulations that is not even funny. To think years ago it was we US citizens that would stand up to these situations, protest and protect our Nation. I am glad at least Korea is taking steps to ensure their communities future safety like we did in years past. http://www.fina-nafi.org/eng/f...?count=eng
No matter how many warnings people have apathy and no changes may occur for us in the US.

The end of America is well on its way via Trade and faulty inimical banking system which our Founding Fathers warned us about. If you allow banks to issue the People's money (not truly our Congress as stated in Constitution) first by inflation and then deflation the banks & Corporations that grow up around them will deprive them and their children of all wealth until they wake-up homeless in the Nation that their forefathers Conquered. The banking system then will become more Powerful than Standing armies, which they have by financing Integration via corps and bureacracies forming the future North American Union which no One here has voted for it but formed by DeFacto by Special interests. So, yes lets at least awaken our spirits and do as Koreans here in this photo before it is too late. smilies/shocked.gif
