We need to encourage candidates to speak rationally on trade.
Obama and Clinton were critical of NAFTA in the Ohio primaries. I
would like to encourage McCain to be critical, but so far he supports
every trade agreement he has seen, and has pledged to support more.
Despite the fact we are gutting virtually every industry with current trade policy, the news media keeps repeating the rhetoric.
Dan Schnur, for one, drank the Kool-Aid.
Ross Perot must have been proud. As Senators Barack Obama and
Hillary Clinton campaigned across Ohio last week, staking their
candidacies on which of them is more strongly opposed to opening trade
markets between the United States and the rest of the world, Mr. Perot
might as well have been playing ventriloquist.
No Dan. They did not oppose "opening trade markets".
Good
products do that. Lobbyist written trade agreements just shift
power from our Congress to international tribunals. Tariffs are
really low now.
Why do these people support trade
deficits? And currency manipulation? And VAT tariffs by
foreign countries. Schnur reveals his ignorance publicly.
