Pat Donahue is the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber is at the forefront of the wacko free trader movement that
dug our $800B trade deficit hole, is outsourcing America, and turning
us into a net food importer.
Donahue is upset about some top tier presidential candidates'
"anti-business" rhetoric. But what is "business"? Is it Monsanto
and Wal-Mart? Is it domestic manufacturers? Is it family
farm corporations?
The U.S. Chamber would say they are
pro-business, meaning all businesses. But that's not true.
They work for, and are controlled by, the multinationals that no longer
have allegiance to America. They work for trade and economic
policies, and corporate welfare, that benefits their gaming the system
at the expense of the vast majority of U.S. businesses.
But the
rhetoric of those who are pro-U.S. and pro-citizen must be
nuanced. They are not "anti-business" or "anti-corporation"
though the terms are sometimes used. They are working for the
vast majority of businesses that depend upon America being sound
economically, democratically, and environmentally. The sound
bites should make this clear. The rhetoric should be tightened to
close the routes of attack.
The Chamber will apparently spend $60M and be active in 140 congressional districts
to beat up on the candidates they don't like. Presidential
candidates opposed by Donahue include Huckabee, Obama, Edwards and maybe Clinton.
"We plan to build a grass-roots business organization so strong
that when it bites you in the butt, you bleed," chamber President Tom
Donohue said.
The Chamber is arm in arm with the Club for Growth, another covey of wacko free traders. This is Donahue when he is scheming for revenge.
