Tracking the candidates: Open source project PDF Print E-mail

We can make this site the central repository for candidate positions on trade.  Consider helping.  Little pain, and much gain, will result.

I am increasingly going to post what the candidates say on trade.  On their websites, in debates, in speeches.  That means all candidates... those for President, Senate, and the House of Representatives.  The Coalition for a Prosperous America is developing a trade rating system for current legislators, based upon their voting record.  That information will be available to you as well when complete.

You can help on this site.  This is an "open source" way to quickly, efficiently and painlessly add candidate statements on trade.  (For the digerati among you, you know that wikipedia and lesser known sites like www.2008racetracker.com use this "open source" method effectively). (Read more).

There are a lot of "lurkers" here, but not many commenters.  I understand that because you all presumably have real jobs.  Very few blog sites generate many comments.

But if you register (see the upper right corner of this page), you can comment on blogs. I promise not to sell your information to credit card companies.   Your screen name doesn't even have to be your real name - you can call yourself "light emitting cantelope."  You can even mis-spell words... goodness knows I do that here.  Just crank out the information and move on.

If you have private or public information on candidates positions relating to trade, type them in and give us all a citation or hyperlink. If you want to post actual blog pieces, let me know and we can set it up.

If you are active in an organization that tracks these issues, consider posting or cross-posting your candidate information here, giving full credit to your group.  We can't make a difference if we don't work together.

Voters can use this information to decide on candidates.  Candidates can be held accountable if they say good things, and get elected.

You can search the ongoing results by topic (by hitting the topical tabs at the top of this page) or by typing in search terms.  This is an easy way to find out where the candidates stand.

I can't endorse candidates, and won't.  I may criticize your favorite candidate, or say good things about a candidate you hate.  But the trade position rules here.  We want all candidates to return to reality.
