A Washington Post article states that according to Food and Water Watch, 82% of consumers want to know where their food comes from.  

Another poll from Consumers Union places the number higher at 92%. 

According to author Goody Solomon, some existing laws, like The Tariff Act of 1930 require  require disclosure, but consumers and farmers alike want more, and it looks like they may get it via the 2007 Farm Bill, or by September 28, 2008 via the old one.

Either way you cut it, push will come to shove when the Senate takes up the bill in September.
