Six years of Doha Round trade talks. No results. Hip hip
hooray. Why are they still there? Because the line items in
government budgets still fund the travel and hotel rooms. For
their very serious talks in very nice places.
India and Brazil are to blame, says USTR Susan Schwab.
The U.S. and Europe are to blame, says Indian trade minister, Kamal Nath.
We are certainly not the problem, says Celso Amorim, the Brazilian foreign minister and trade envoy.

they undertake tariff reductions, theyre going to be overrun by
Chinese goods, said William A. Reinsch, president of the National
Foreign Trade Council in Washington, a protrade lobbying group. Its
going to be hard to disabuse them of that fear.
Yes, Mr. Reinsch. It is very hard to "disabuse them of that
fear." Because it is true. And domestic economies will be
devastated. But disabusing people of reality has been done, so
have at it.
