I said before that I am on a government email list that provides public notice when a waiver of the Buy America requirements, in public projects, is sought.
The latest waiver request is the state of Oregon Department of Transportation, which is requesting permission to purchase foreign "hollow core threaded anchor rods." The waiver can be granted when:
(1) when the application of the provision would be inconsistent with the public interest; or
(2) when steel and iron products are not produced in the United States in sufficient and reasonably available quantities, which are of a satisfactory quality.
Does the U.S. not manufacture hollow core threaded anchor rods? I suspect we still do.
You can comment on the government website if you know something about this.
