All China food all the time.  That's what this blog is becoming.  But how can one blog keep up with billions of dollars of salmonella-cadmium-melamine-flouroquinolone infested food imports.

From the AP, salmonella is found in Chinese spray seasonings.  This means stay away from:

1.   Super Veggie Tings Crunchy Corn Sticks; and

2.   Veggie Booty snack foods.

Gourmet, Inc. of Sea Cliff, NY is the manufacturer.  Well not the manufacturer, because other folks in other countries manufacture our food these days.  [I used to think one "cooked" food and "manufactured" automobiles].  U.S. companies do the high end work.  They "distribute."

The products are made under contract; Ehrlich [the representative from Gourmet, Inc.] would not identify the manufacturer.

Apparently last week 54 cases of salmonella poisoning occurred in 17 states.  The victims reported eating Veggie Booty.

I've neither eaten nor seen Veggie Booty.  But then I'm a strange fellow, growing my own meat and not watching TV.  But I'll stay away from Veggie Booty if someone offers a handful at the Fourth of July picnic.

UPDATE:  My wife informed me that my kids love Veggie Booty.  But no more.

In the news

Colorado CPA member Milt Heft has these thoughts on money, wealth and the economy.  Heft is the owner of Petrogen, Inc in Colorado Springs.

A few thoughts about manufacturing:

There is a great misunderstanding of the relationship- between money and wealth.  The beginning principles with which we can all agree are a few and simple noble truths:

1. Money is meaningless without wealth.
2. Wealth is difficult to distribute without money.
3. Wealth is the reality of the physical things we need to survive and thrive:  food, clothing, shelter, ice cream & computers.  It is the product of mining, industrial production, and agriculture.
4. Money is anything that make the wheels of production and distribution go ‘round.
5. Money is easy to manufacture and control.
6. Wealth takes a lot of blood, sweat, toil and tears.
