Fifty four Congressional Democrats sent a letter to President Obama on February 26, 2009.
It is a pretty good letter. It notes the President's campaign promises
on trade and makes specific proposals on ways to fix trade policy.
Topics covered are the trade deficit, currency manipulation, the failed U.S. China relationship, import safety, renegotiating NAFTA and CAFTA, opposition to the pending FTA's (Colombia, Korea and Panama), and the limitations on our sovereignty.
The letter makes repeated points that the investment restrictions in trade agreements are incompatable with the current debate on how to best approach financial sector regulation.
A pretty good letter.
