Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA-18) is running for re-election. His district is south of Pittsburgh and includes Washington, PA. He is a co-sponsor of the Fair Currency Act of 2011 (HR 639) which CPA vigorously supports.
An important Washington, PA newspaper, the Observer-Reporter just endorsed him. Among the reasons for the endorsement was his work on currency and trade issues.
Murphy has also bucked some of his party’s free-trade fundamentalists in his efforts to punish China for its artificially lowering the value of its currency, which has driven down the cost of Chinese goods on these shores and has cost American jobs.
We need to make smart trade a voting issue. Its good to see a newspaper articulate the currency and free trade issue in its endorsement of Congressman Murphy.
I am very happy to see my congressman taking a clear stand to defend fair trade and U.S. jobs. I know that the efforts of CPA made a difference! He is getting my vote.
BRAVO! YOU FOUND ONE REPUBLICAN THAT SUPPORTS THIS LEGISLATION! BUT LET US NOT FORGET THE FACT, THAT THE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP HAS HELD THIS BILL UP. SO IT CAN’T GET A VOTE UP OR DOWN! THEY KNOW THEY DON’T WANT IT PASSED, & THEY KNEW IT WOULD DAMAGE THEIR CHANCES IN THE ELECTION! SO, THEY SAT ON IT! WE ALL KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THIS BILL! IT WOULD HAVE WENT DOWN IN FLAMES IN THE HOUSE! BETWIXT THIS, & ROMNEY LYING ABOUT HOW HE’S GOING TO “DO SOMETHING ABOUT CHINA.” AND THE OVER ALL TRACK RECORD OF REPUBLICAN PARTY’S PUSHING FOR FREE TRADE AT ALL COSTS SINCE THE THE FIRST BUSH ADMINISTRATION. THE VOTERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE RIGHT THROUGH ALL THIS TYPICAL POLITICAL CRAPOLA! MAKE NO MISTAKE! A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT, WITH A REPUBLICAN MAJORITY. EQUALS A BIG TIME FREE TRADE AGENDA! AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL GET NO SAY SO!
