USTR Ron Kirk touts tour of foreign textile factory

I’m all for jobs in Africa, but U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk’s job isn’t to promote imports to supply Wal-Mart.  His job should be to make the U.S. a successful trading nation. i.e we should be a net exporter and that should be his goal. Why the USTR website is touting Kirk’s tour of a foreign Wal-Mart supplier is beyond me.

  1. How many years and representatives do we have to go through to correct these trade problems and who is your daddy Wal-Mart or the taxpayers? You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. Wake up Washington and Wal-Mart…

I am sure that USTR Ron Kirk considers himself a citizen of the world. It stands to reason that Ron Kirk the citizen of the world wants to be the world’s trade representative!
Ron Kirk must feel that his goal should be to help create jobs in countries other than the United States, and the net result of U.S. trade policies has been the closing of factories in the U.S. and the building of factories in other countries.
